MFA, BYU, 2013

Maddison Colvin graduated from BYU with an MFA in Studio Art after earning a BA at age 17 from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. After graduating, Maddison completed a residency at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City, worked as an adjunct instructor, taught art at a charter school and completed a visiting professorship with BYU before relocating to Eugene, Oregon for several years. While living in Oregon, Maddison wore many hats — including part-time art faculty, graphic designer, freelance illustrator and working artist. She also participated in two more residency programs with the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology and the Ora Lerman Charitable Trust. Before returning to BYU, Maddison worked as a co-director of Tropical Contemporary, an artist-run space showing work from emerging and marginalized artists. Her administrative responsibilities include scheduling, marketing, hiring, student and faculty support, and advising graduate students.
