Tara Carpenter Estrada is an associate professor of art education at Brigham Young University. Her research focuses on how artists, teachers, and mothers navigate the intersections between overlapping but separate roles and responsibilities. She regularly exhibits her mixed-media and ceramic work and has been selected for artist residencies in Tennessee, Utah, and Vermont. She has co-edited two books about art and motherhood, An Artist and a Mother, and Give and Take: Motherhood and Creative Practice. Other writings have been published in Journal of the Motherhood Initiative, Visual Inquiry, Art Education Policy Review, and Art Education. Awards include "Excellence in Teaching" from the College of Fine Arts and Communications at BYU and "Utah Art Educator of Year" from the Utah Art Education Association.
